Beginning the Portrait Procedure:
Ideally the process begins with discussions as to the size of the desired portrait-preferably in the client's home so placement location, color and framing can be considered. (Framing is not necessarily included in the commission fee, suggestions will be offered.)

When location and schedules allow, a short photograph session with the subject of the portrait will be determined. These photos will be used for reference and will help provide some insight as to the personality of the subject.

The client may have an existing family photo, perhaps of a family celebration, an everyday shot caught by the shutter, first day of school, etc. that they wish the portrait be based on. These spontaneous photo pictures are welcomed. Photos taken by a professional photographer under contract are not accepted.

Timeline Expectations::
 When commissioning a portrait, please allow a minimum of one to three months (longer for larger portraits) for the completion of the work. Unlike watercolor, pastels and other mediums, oil paintings require a longer drying time. The final varnish is not applied for four to twelve months after the interim and will have re-touchable varnish for protective purposes from dust, etc. The artist will make arrangements with the client for final varnish application.
Client Satisfaction:
If for any reason the client isn't happy with the completed portrait, the artist will keep the painting and the client is not responsible for the balance of the fee. The 5% initial payment is non-refundable.

Copyrights:
 Print editions in all forms of the portrait are the property of the artist. Rejected originals can be sold with no restrictions or permissions.
