"Flowers for My Nona"Over this past weekend, I wanted to paint, sometimes deciding on a "subject" or type of painting is difficult since many times I'm all over the board....over the summer I had a young artists that painted with me "plein air". On one of the days , we painted from the yard. With flowers blooming, I let Sofia go into the yard and cut flowers from which she would proceed to do a painting. I had photographed pictures of her while she was gathering her flowers. While reviewing my "picture" file, I came up with a project ... a portrait series. I have 14 young artists that I help explore drawing and painting and thus.....I began with Sofia, the youngest, and will work through a portrait of each of my young artists. This is the first portrait and the first "stage" of this portrait work. The medium is oil on canvas. I'm looking forward to "learning" as I go.
